ABOUT PILATES
What is Pilates?
The Pilates method of body conditioning is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over 90 years ago by Joseph H. Pilates. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance and creates a more streamlined shape.
Pilates works from the inside out. It strengthens and lengthens the muscles of the body commonly known as stabilisers and mobilises. These support the skeletal structure of our bodies. As these muscles have to work hard on a daily basis during the regular movement of everyday activities - they need endurance.
Who should attend Pilates classes?
Almost anyone can use the Pilates system with relative ease. Pilates is geared for everyone - for persons in need of rehabilitation, the elderly, professional athletes wanting to take their sport to the next level – basically, anyone who wants to lead a healthier, more vibrant life.
Pilates will help you whether you are recovering from an injury or op, ease chronic pain, get fit or train for competition. In fact anyone who desires better physical health, toned muscles and improved posture should do Pilates. The benefits of exercise are well known but the reality of our lives is that time is more the enemy than a lack of motivation to exercise. So the time you make for exercise needs to be time well spent. With Pilates you can be assured that your time and money are well invested.
